Our Shikoku-Ken
Loa, 12 weeks Yamabushi Shikoku-Ken are bred to meet the FCI standards for the breed. Our breeding philosophy for Yamabushi Shikoku-Ken is that a Shikoku-Ken is a primitive hunting breed and this is where most of the unique Shikoku-Ken personality traits come from. Their primitive and unique nature makes them endlessly entertaining and special. Unlike other primitive spitz-type hunting breeds, Shikoku-Ken are well suited for life as a companion and family dog as long as you provide them the exercise and mental stimulation they require and deserve. Here at Yamabushi Kennel it is our goal to produce happy, family-friendly Shikoku-Ken while perpetuating their unique primitive and hunting/working qualities. We want our Shikoku-Ken to enjoy interaction with their pack as well as enjoying working with their owners as hunting dogs, pack dogs, mushing dogs, agility, or any other working activity you and your Shikoku-Ken enjoy. We have found that this breed loves to work, and it would be a shame to not continue that trait in Yamabushi Shikoku-Ken.

If you are new to the Shikoku-Ken breed please take the time to read about the breed, or view some pictures in our gallery. If you have any questions regarding our Shikoku-Ken breeding program please feel free to contact us at info@YamabushiKennel.org.

If you are interested in being considered for the purchase of a Yamabushi Shikoku-Ken, please take the time to fill out our Shikoku-Ken puppy placement questionnaire. Once the questionnaire is completed please email it to us at info@YamabushiKennel.org. A completed puppy placement questionnaire is a requirement to be considered for the purchase of a Yamabushi Shikoku-Ken, it provides us with very valuable information that will help us place the right puppy with the right owner.
